April 27: We’ll continue our preview of Rob Mazuerk and Mwata Bowden coming to Woodland Pattern on May 4th, but for the Spring Membership Drive we’ll also take requests. E-mail us here and we’ll do our best to play something you’d like to hear.

April 20: The Music of Rob Mazurek and Mwata Bowden in preview for their Woodland Pattern concert on Sunday, May 4th.

April 13: Music by Anthony Braxton as played by Ensemble Montaigne, Dahinden-Kleeb-Polisoidis-Holdrich (Concepts of Freedom), Crispell-Dresser-Hemingway, and solo by Matthew Welch and by David Holland.

April 6: A bit more from Julius Hemphill’s Roi Boyé & the Gotham Minstrels and ‘improvising in the 70s and 80s’ with percussionist Andrea Centazo.

Alternating Currents on WMSE (91.7FM) in Milwaukee every Sunday night from 6 until 9 p.m. is a showcase for music that experiments both with form and sound, in other words, serious creative work from artists who challenge the concepts and shapes of modern music-making. Alternating Currents is about the adventure of sound as it surveys music of 20th and 21st centuries including modern classical music, contemporary open form free jazz, electroacoustic and electronic music, and freely improvised music.
