August 22: John Cage in the 50s … featuring several uniquely different performances of Atlas Eclipticalus, Aria with Fontana Mix, Radio Music, and Williams Mix.

August 15: Music by Steve Barsotti and the Seattle Phonographers Union in our first hour, Luc Ferrari in the second hour, and MEV (Musica Elettronica Viva) in the final hour.

August 8:  At 7 p.m., The Hands of Caravaggio performed by John Tilbury and MIMEO (Music in Movement Electronic Orchestra).  “One is tempted to call The Hands of Caravaggio the first great piano concerto of the 21st century.” (Brian Olewnick, All Music Guide).  From 6:00 until 7 and between 8 and 9:00 we’ll listen to music by the individual members of MIMEO.

August 1: Duos, composed and improvised .. . including Duos for Doris (Keith Rowe and John Tilbury), And She Speaks (John Carter and Bobby Bradford), Salut fur Caudwell (for two guitars by Helmut Lachenmann), Punkte, Linien und Zickzack (for bass clarinet and piano by Sofia Gubaidulina), Casa Leopoldo (Derek Bailey and Agusti Fernandez), Sous un Reve Huileux (Sylvie Courvousier and Mark Feldman), and much more.

Alternating Currents on WMSE (91.7FM) in Milwaukee every Sunday night from 6 until 9 p.m. is a showcase for music that experiments both with form and sound, in other words, serious creative work from artists who challenge the concepts and shapes of modern music-making.
